OUR FUTURE’S ON TRACK

Springfield has a rich history of innovation and determination that is linked to our region’s status as TrackTown, USA. A flexible indoor sports and event center that includes a banked hydraulic track will draw attention to our history, healthy activity for all ages, and dollars to our local economy, ensuring a strong economic future.

TRACKTOWN LEGACY

Recognizing Springfield’s contributions to our rich TrackTown Legacy and sharing in future economic returns while serving area schools and giving athletes of all ages and abilities a competition quality facility for indoor track.

INSPIRE INNOVATION

TrackTown’s most famous innovator, Bill Bowerman, lived in Springfield, and so did his wife’s waffle iron. The opportunity to realize an indoor track, sports and event center in Glenwood is a once-in-a-generation chance to continue that remarkable spirit. Inside and out, stories about the history of Springfield’s track legends will be shared from Bowerman to Dellinger to Pre to Peters to Mutola to Symmonds.

FASTEST TRACK

The facility will be built in a practical and cost-effective manner but will have the ability to host indoor track competitions at all levels, allowing our local athletes to achieve their American and world records here at home while providing an opportunity for young athletes to stay active in winter.

INSPIRE GREATNESS

It is a dream of many that this facility can inspire youth to be active and healthier by providing access to a winter sport that welcomes all abilities. A key strength of our TrackTown legacy is that we remain focused on the future of the sport and the benefits it brings.

  • “Generations of passionate fans, elite athletes and enthusiastic runners infuse this community. TrackTown USA is unlike any other city in the United States, which is why we have been able to host some of the best track and field events in the world. The new facility in Springfield only serves to enhance this legacy. As many of you have witnessed already, these events bring countless benefits to our community that cannot be denied.”
